If you could renovate any room in your home what would it be and why? What products and brands would you choose for the updated room? 

I am currently renovating my powder room. This project has been in the works for years. While hundreds of styles and products have come and gone in the twenty-one years I have been here, I never found a faucet that I would love for the rest of my life. I wanted something timeless yet told a story. Waterworks released the Shinola faucet earlier this year—a partnership with Detroit's Shinola watches. I knew immediately that was the one.

The use of mixed finishes that was not over designed yet timeless. I am pairing it with a Duravit console and Toto toilet, along with some fabulous lighting, mirror, tile and accessories from Waterworks. Other than your front door, your powder room is the room everyone will remember, it has to be spectacular.

When a client is starting a new project, what is your go-to design advice for them?

My go-to advice would be to make it functional yet an extension of you and your daily life.

What would you include in your dream kitchen design?

Luxuries that are still practical, as well as elements to make everyday life easier, organized and healthier (like a steam oven).

The renovation is carrying over to the kitchen in the Salerno house.   I have dreamed about designing my kitchen around the Miele combi steam oven and it is finally coming true.  I will be pairing that with Miele column refrigeration. 36" range and a custom hood from Vent a Hood.    The steam oven allows for healthier ways of cooking, while also creating meals in one oven for easy clean up.  A year ago True unveiled a full size beverage center that stole my heart.   A full size beverage center that organizes every drink you could possibly put in it will round out the bar.  Family dinners and entertaining will be a breeze with a few luxuries that are practical, versatile and make every day life easier.

What would you include in your dream bathroom design? 

Hands down a Flotation tub from Toto and a steam shower. The health benefits from these products push them to the top of the list. With the hustle of everyday life, we don't take enough time to relax and de-stress. With proper time management everyone has time to take a few hours a week to steam out all the toxins and enjoy a gravity massage (flotation bath) in their own private home spa.

What are important factors to consider when choosing new windows and doors? 

Wood species, construction of the window and R values. As far as doors go, the front door is the first thing your guests see and the last thing when they come and go. The door should be a statement of who you are and compliments the exterior of the home. Along with that, the hardware needs to be spot on as well. The hardware is the first thing your guests touch. It should say "WOW!"

What are important factors to consider when choosing new appliances? 

Most important is how you cook and use your kitchen, who do you cook for and your space/layout. Is manufacturer service available and how about customer service? I think appliances are very individual. You should not have a coffee system if you do not drink coffee. Asking my clients the right questions and listening to their answers is how I advise and point them in the right direction.

In general, what does home mean to you? How do you define home? 

Now more than ever I think home means safe and secure, a place where you can relax, enjoy yourself and family. A home should be a place you want to be and spend time. A place where everything seems right.

What's your favorite thing to do while at home? 

Cook, entertain and enjoy time with my son, Caesar.
