Dawn Cook has been making waves in the design community since 2008 when she started her own full-service interior design firm, Dawn Cook Design. With a business background and expertise in lighting, Dawn has set herself apart in the industry by assembling a dedicated team of professionals who are ready to take on full-scale design projects, from small bathrooms to entire homes. Dawn has also completed work in Colorado and Florida, has been featured in The Plain Dealer, Cleveland.com, and Shaker Life Magazine, and has built a strong online presence. She strives to bring her client’s visions to life and was even awarded the 2014 Best of Houzz Customer Satisfaction Award (Houzz.com).

When Dawn and her business partner, Linda Smith of Blulens Design, were approached with a time-sensitive Shaker Heights kitchen remodel project, they were ready and willing. Their client, a family with three young children, was determined to transform their dark and inconsistent kitchen into a fresh, lively space that would be bright, airy, and functional. The biggest challenge? Completing the entire project in just two weeks!

Dawn explained that one of the biggest challenges of the job was coordinating the schedules of all of the trade professionals in such a tight timeframe, but everyone came together and held their commitments in order to create what is now a favorite in her design portfolio. Dawn says she looks to Edelman as a trusted resource and a partner she can rely on. “Having an established relationship with Edelman makes my job easier, especially with such a busy schedule,” says Dawn. “My salesperson is knowledgeable and works with my clients to make them feel comfortable and taken care of”. She noted that the most important aspect of her vendor relationships, including the one she's built with Edelman, is timely troubleshooting. There are bound to be issues that arise, but Dawn says it's how they're handled that matters most. The finished project showcases an array of classic fixtures, from farmhouse sinks to unique, elegant overhead lighting fixtures that catch the eye immediately when entering the room. What was once a space that lacked uniformity has now been transformed into a sleek and modern design with plenty of character.  A blend of subway and basket weave tile, gold accents, and an antique framed mirror wall bring the room together with ease.
